Kobe is as a port city full of elegance, charm and sophistication.

It has the beauty of both the sea and the mountains.  1x1.trans Top 5 Must visit Places in Kobe

In comparison to Tokyo, it is somewhat different but similar at the same time.

However, I would like to think it’s the opposite.  1x1.trans Top 5 Must visit Places in Kobe

Let’s start with the basics! When taking the escalator, the fast lane is on the left. In Tokyo, it’s the other way around. It is customary to be discreet while on the train. People usually read books, play games with their 3DS or their mobile phones. Is it the same in Tokyo? You be the judge.  1x1.trans Top 5 Must visit Places in Kobe

How to get there?

  • It is approximately 160 minutes away from Tokyo via Shinkansen Nozomi and 195 minutes if you take Shinkansen Hikari.

 Cat Cafe at Motomachi/ Sannomiya

Cat cafes started out in Tokyo as a brilliant idea to entertain people who cannot have cats for pets at home. In Japan, it’s very expensive to buy pets. Also, most mansions and apartments do not allow them.  >.<

Just in case you haven’t been to one in Tokyo, there is one (that I know of) cat cafe in Kobe.

Lucky for you as it is very convenient to get to by walking from Motomachi station which is one stop away from Kobe. Nyanny is open from 11:00am – 10:00pm. Their basic fee is ¥1000. If you like to drink, it could range from ¥1200-¥1500. They serve both coffee and alcohol.

I once met a cat named Sumire, which means violet in Japanese. If you are a fan of Haruki Murakami, I’m sure you know why I was thrilled! According to my friend Annika, she is black and “diabolical”. But I love her nonetheless.  1x1.trans Top 5 Must visit Places in Kobe

How to get there?

  • Get off at Motomachi Station, South exit. It’s at the back of Lawson’s convenience store.
