Most people that visit Japan flock to Tokyo for most of their sight seeing. But what most people don’t think of is that there are many places in the country that is rich with interesting places!
One of these places is the rich city of Yokohama, just south of Tokyo and is the second largest city in Japan. The city is one of Japan’s major ports and is therefore full of life and places to see!
And because Yokohama is home to many of Japan’s corporations, it is easy to see how well their economy is doing just by walking down the street. On certain days, affluent citizens of the city will take out their luxury cars and park them along a long street. This automatically becomes an instant tourist-spot and is quite a sight to see.
But if you’re more a fan of excitement and the rush of adrenalin, then we recommend a visit to the Yokohama Cosmo World Amusement Park!
It’s a quaint place, the area of which is not too big, which means that you will be able to visit every part of the park. One of the best things about it is that it is free! Just walk in without having to worry about paying an entrance fee!
The highlight of the park is, of course, the roller coaster! The Diving Coaster, also known as the Vanishing Rollercoaster, is a must-try for all you thrill seekers! As you can guess from its name, the Diving Coaster Vanish has an interesting point of vanishing from view at some point in the ride.
You’ll have to try it to know for sure! And after a thrilling coaster ride, treat yourself to a Pao de Castella, a really kawaii bear-shaped castella snack.
Outiside Cosmo World, Yokohama has loads of other attractions that you may want to visit. The Anpanman Museum is located nearby; which pays tribute to one of Japan’s most popular young children’s anime, Anpanman. You can see a lot of original artwork from the series as well as enjoy the energetic, kiddy interior.

But if you’d just like to enjoy the scenery and relish in the fact that you are in Japan, you can escape to Yokohama’s Sankeien Garden. You’ll forget the city and travel to Japan’s beautiful past when you step inside. Stroll through its beautiful gardens and enjoy the impressive traditional Japanese architecture in which seventeen old buildings from all over Japan have been brought to this garden. These are just some of the many places that you should consider when visiting Yokohama. It is only a train-ride away from Tokyo, but will fill your calendars with many things to do!
